Botox Neck Lift
The Botox Neck Lift
For years, Botox has been approved to help control and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, help reduce migraine headaches, and alleviate excessive sweating. Now Botox can also be used for a non-surgical neck lift. By injecting the neck’s platysma muscle, the thickness and position of which can effect a person’s visible signs of aging, relaxes it and reduces the appearance of neck banding or “turkey neck.”
One misconception is that Botox will also tighten the neck area. However, Botox will only relax the muscle and never tighten it. If the skin around the neck is significantly loose, sagging, and wrinkled as a result, Botox may not be an effective treatment option.
Are There Side Effects?
Some side effects have been noted including neck pain, stiffness, and muscle weakness. Injections here may cause unintended paralysis of the muscles that control head movement, breathing, and swallowing. These effects can be serious if only temporary.
Is Botox Right For Me?
While Botox is used mainly as a wrinkle relaxer and to smooth fine lines, there are also aesthetic benefits associated with Botox injections for the neck. Botox treatment is also not recommended for patients 18 years old or younger. Be sure to consult with your physician to decide if a non-surgical neck lift.
