Under Eye Bags Have Got to Go!

Who wants excess baggage under their eyes? No one. This appearance has people everywhere looking older and more tired than they actually are. Sadly, eye bags seem to be a naturally part of the aging process and something each one of us has to eventually deal with. Under eye baggage can be caused by a variety of things, but usually as we get older the area—called the orbital septum—loses its muscle tone. The fat around the eyeball herniates out of the eye socket, so the fat pad seems to protrude, says Carrie Gessler, MSN, ANP-BC. At the same time, the midface descends and forms hollows under the eyes.

Fillers made with hyaluronic acid (HA), such as Juvederm, Restylane, and Restylane Lyft are very popular options when it comes to giving patients the more beautiful, youthful, radiant look that they so deserve. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), close to three million people worldwide were injected with HA to fix jowls, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, chins, tear troughs, and vertical lines between the eyebrows.

Fillers that are injected in the area of the tear trough can hide the fat and make one look more rested while fixing the loss of volume. Dermal fillers can also heighten collagen production over time. It’s important to choose an experienced, skilled practitioner to inject fillers for outstanding results!

Thankfully, these types of fillers can be corrected if you’re dissatisfied with your results (which you won’t likely be if you visit a trained professional). An enzyme called “hyaluronidase” can be injected to take out excess filler and another type, such as Restylane Silk, can be used in an alternate place to correct your appearance.
